Our philosophy
We value our partnerships with employers and appreciate the time, energy, and investment it takes to identify and hire strong talent. Our goal is to ensure that students are empowered to make thoughtful choices and that employers receive well-prepared, committed candidates in return.
We encourage open communication between students and employers to create an offer process that works for everyone.
Offer guidelines

To create an equitable and professional hiring experience for all parties, CMU-SV aligns with the hiring policies outlined by Carnegie Mellon University’s Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC).
We ask that employers:
- Provide all offers in writing
- Allow students adequate time to consider and respond to offers
- Refrain from high-pressure practices such as exploding offers or overly short deadlines
Hiring and offer policy:
- For all return offers received after completing a summer internship, students should be given at least until October 15th or three weeks (whichever is later) to respond.
- For all other offers with a start date in the following calendar year/s, students should be given until November 15th or three weeks (whichever is later) to respond.
- All offers with a start date in the current calendar year should provide students a minimum of three weeks to respond.
These timelines help students make thoughtful, well-informed decisions while maintaining alignment with your recruiting goals.
