Lauren Schachar serves as the senior student affairs officer for the CMU Silicon Valley campus. As the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, she leads the student-facing functions of the campus, including student services, career services, and communication and language services.

She has been with Carnegie Mellon University since 2014. Prior to her current role, Lauren served as the director of career services for the CMU-SV campus. She has also worked in various student affairs roles at other higher education institutions such as the University of Washington, Seattle University, and the University of Michigan.

Lauren holds a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania, a MA in student development and administration from Seattle University, and a BA from the University of Washington. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing to big band music, game nights (especially Rummikub), and enjoying day trips around the Bay Area.
